- G ["dÊ’i:"] (GHB or GBL)
also "Gina" or "Liquid Ecstasy" -
::: Corrosive, usually colorless, salty-bitter-tasting liquid. Rarely solid salt (sodium oxybate).Â
Â
Taking GHB (gamma-hydroxy-butyric acid), GBL (gamma-butyrolactone) or BDO (1,4-butanediol) increases the release of dopamine in the body and enhances the effect of GABA. GABA is an endogenous messenger that regulates the wake/sleep rhythm.
Â
Â
GHB, GBL and BDO etch, they must always be swallowed strongly diluted.
GBL and BDO act much faster and stronger than GHB and must be dosed much lower! Usually GBL is distributed and offered as "G" - but always ask exactly!
Â
In low dosage, G can have a stimulating, mood-lifting, relaxing and disinhibiting effect, the sensation of pain decreases. In high dosage, G has a narcotic effect, soporific and leads to unconsciousness. That is why it is also known as "knockout drops". Do not leave drinks unattended!
Â
Onset of action: after approx. 10-20 min. (GHB) or approx. 5-10 min. (GBL)
Duration of action: approx. 1.5-4 h
Detectability: up to 6 h (blood), up to 12 h (urine) (but only as long as you have not peed!)
Increase in blood pressure, heart rate and body temperature, dry mouth, convulsions, jaw grinding, "chewing lash", headache, sweating, nausea. Dilated pupils (resulting in impaired light/dark adaptation of the eye).
Special risks: High dosages and mixed consumption (especially with alcohol) can lead to prolonged vomiting fits and coma. Respiratory paralysis (also with fatal consequences) is possible!
Â
Â
Mixed use with alcohol and other downers (painkillers and sedatives).
Dosages of 1.2 ml GBL or 3-4 ml GHB increase the risk of comatose states. But be careful: Everybody reacts differently, do not rely on "usual amounts"!
Â
Side effects: Dizziness, nausea, headache, confusion, difficulty breathing, impaired balance, memory, inability to move, muscle twitching, convulsions.
Â
Special risks: in mental lability, epilepsy, cardiac/liver dysfunction, succinate semi-aldehyde dehydrogenase deficiency, and treatment with valproate.
After-effects and possible consequences: Irritability, depressive moods, fatigue, lack of concentration possible (may last several days).
Consume only with people you trust. Let friends know what you are using! Make sure you have a companion who can help you in case of emergency.
Get as smart as you can about your substance - even small differences in dosage significantly increase the risk of overdose!
The effective dose varies greatly from person to person. Take a small amount (not more than 0.6ml GBL), wait at least 90 min and observe the effect.
Â
If you have taken G against your will, inform a trusted person immediately. The club staff will also support you!
Get help when you or others need it. Especially if pulse and/or breathing are weak or irregular: Call 112.
Staff and emergency services are there to help you!
Â
Dose undiluted G with a syringe (without needle) or a scaled pipette (with ml indications). Mix into an alcohol-free (!) drink, stir well. Note the amount taken and the time (e.g. by screenshot on the cell phone).
Always use as low a dosage as possible! No mixed use with alcohol and other downers (eg benzos, ketamine), these amplify the effect!
Â
Special caution also with mixed use with uppers (e.g. cocaine, MDMA, mephedrone). These overlay the G consumption, so that the G effect is more difficult to assess - risk of overdose.
Reloading easily leads to overdose. Wait at least 2 hours, preferably 4 hours, before consuming again. Then dose much lower than before.
Â
Before consumption, clarify whether you want sex and what kind.
Prevent dependence : Limit your consumption to special occasions. Plan long breaks from consumption to recover.
Â
Info on G withdrawal:
If you are physically dependent on G, uncontrolled withdrawal can be threatening. G withdrawal should be a well-planned, gradual process. Let yourself be accompanied by doctors. You can find help for withdrawal in Berlin , for example, here:
St. Hedwig Hospital (Berlin-Mitte), Addiction Medicine Ward (Ward 34)
Tel. ++49 30 2311-2940.
